A polished club comic anchored by a rumbling, baritone alter ego.

Craig Shoemaker steps to the microphone with the energy of a seasoned broadcaster, but the crowd is always waiting for him to lower his pitch. When he slips into his signature alter ego, The Lovemaster, his voice plummets into an absurd, rumbling baritone. He shifts his weight, adopting the mannerisms of a cartoonish lothario to dispense aggressive romantic advice. The bit relies entirely on vocal control, taking a standard relationship premise and stretching it until his voice vibrates the speakers.

A fixture of nineties cable programming, Shoemaker operates a distinct second career in the corporate wellness space. While he still tours clubs, he spends considerable time giving keynotes and running retreats that frame humor as a literal medical tool. He is one of the rare performers who actively merges standup with professional development seminars.

Beyond the baritone character, his broader act leans on tight impersonations and fast-paced storytelling. In his later specials, like Daditude, he leaves the bachelor persona behind to outline the physical exhaustion of raising children. He walks the stage with constant, restless movement, keeping a brisk rhythm even when detailing his fading energy.

He grew up in the Philadelphia area, starting out as a bartender and emcee at local shows. Outside of comedy, he played a film professor in Scream 2 and appeared on Parks and Recreation as the stubborn leader of Pawnee’s Liberty or Die Party.
