JC Currais
Stand-up specials
Loud, chaotic stories about making the worst possible choices.
A JC Currais set is loud and frantic by design. He paces the stage with the energy of a professional wrestler about to cut a promo, projecting his voice like he needs to reach the back of a stadium. When he tells a story, he doesn’t just recite what happened. He acts out the panic. His bits usually start with a terrible choice. He will take psychedelics before watching a horror movie, or drink tequila until he blacks out at a fast food drive-thru. Then he starts sweating and shouting as he explains the fallout.
He works the club circuit and independent showcases by relying on sheer momentum. Bookers put him up when a room is entirely too quiet and needs to be startled into paying attention.
His material leans all the way into his own absurdity. In his 2023 set Tequila Werewolf and the Taco Bell Maniac, he recounts his own drunken behavior like an out-of-breath eyewitness to a disaster. He is not aiming for quiet, observational nods. He wants the crowd laughing at the image of him urgently calling 911 to report that he is turning into a monster. He never winks to reassure the room he is actually a responsible adult. He just stays fully inside the panic.
Raised in Miami, that specific brand of loud Florida chaos feels permanent in his stage persona. That same booming presence occasionally lands him acting work, from Disney television series to a minor part in the film Babylon.
