The four-man juggernaut of Southern-fried humor returned for a second round in 2004, riding high on a massive wave of popularity that soon spawned a TV sketch show. Recorded at the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado, the sequel relies on the same dynamic of its predecessor, delivering a lineup of observational and redneck anecdotes. Rather than trying to reinvent their stage presence, the group doubles down on the personas that made them household names.
Bill Engvall starts the night with a story about a whale-watching trip gone wrong before sliding into his trademark “Here’s Your Sign” routine. Ron White follows with his usual scotch on the rocks and a cigar, offering a cynical set about his second marriage, an argument about Garth Brooks, and a bulldog named Sluggo. Jeff Foxworthy takes the third slot, contrasting the physical similarities of teenagers and senior citizens and mocking the endless list of side effects in pharmaceutical commercials. Larry the Cable Guy closes the individual sets with his exaggerated family stories and signature catchphrases, followed by a final musical performance.
