Greg Malone brings his character work and Newfoundland sensibilities to the solo stage. Best known as an impressionist, Malone leans heavily into his trademark portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, using the monarch’s rigid poise as a vehicle for pointed societal critiques. The routine relies on his ability to slip entirely into a persona, blending sketch instincts with traditional observational formats. Between the royal posturing, he anchors the character work with philosophical premises, noting at one point how people’s conceptions of God happen to look and think exactly like they do.
The 1998 television broadcast marked a return to the comedy spotlight for the performer. He had spent the years following the end of his ensemble series CODCO focused on political activism and public health advocacy after the death of his longtime collaborator Tommy Sexton. The performance proved his theatrical style worked just as well without a supporting cast, earning a Gold Award for Comedy at the Houston International Film and Television Festival the following year.
