How does a comedian translate a low-key, non-sequitur style to a full-length show? Detroit-raised comic Brad Wenzel answers that with a quiet, persistent avalanche of short jokes. He does not rely on loud theatricality or long narrative arcs. Instead, Wenzel stands on stage with an understated, deadpan delivery, letting brief, odd observations do all the work. It is a pacing that feels like hanging out with an eccentric friend who simply cannot stop thinking of strange connections.

Filmed in the Detroit area, this 2026 self-released YouTube special highlights Wenzel’s fifteen years of experience touring the club circuit. Notable bits include his confusion in a bar when looking at an ESPN screen, leading him to believe a real bird threat was imminent after seeing a graphic about how dangerous the Cardinals are. He also touches on how his initials, BBW, complicate his bowling alley scoreboards. Whether recounting a strange interaction at a Staples checkout counter or questioning why Dr. Seuss gets so much credit for rhyming made-up words, the performance relies on tight, dry writing.

Wenzel built his reputation on late-night television, including three stand-up spots on Conan, as well as on SiriusXM and Don’t Tell Comedy. This hour-long show continues his distinct deadpan approach, reminiscent of Mitch Hedberg or Steven Wright. The special was also released on vinyl through Third Man Records.
