Kelsey Cook knows exactly how depressing it is to realize you are in the middle of a depressive episode while standing inside a Cheesecake Factory in pajama bottoms. That unglamorous self-awareness carries the hour, whether she is explaining the physiological judgment of an Oura Ring during sex, running through airplane bathroom panic, or talking about her mother’s frontotemporal dementia without sliding into sentimentality.

Filmed across two shows at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, the hour is Cook’s first for Netflix following club tapings on Hulu and YouTube. Directed by Eric Abrams, it captures Cook moving into theaters after financing the taping herself, holding onto the rapid, blunt pacing she developed in comedy clubs.
