Ricardo Quevedo operates on a frequency of pure annoyance, turning the minor irritations of daily Colombian life into a sort of collective therapy session. Recorded in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly a thousand people at Teatro Leonardus in his hometown of Bogotá, this 55-minute audio-only special captures the comic at a pivotal moment. Already established through his work on Los Comediantes de la Noche and Comedy Central’s La Culpa es de Colón, Quevedo was on the verge of international crossover when this set was released by Comedy Dynamics in late 2017.

The performance relies on Quevedo’s signature self-deprecation and a refusal to find the silver lining. He spends significant time picking apart how smartphones have permanently ruined the mechanics of romance, and looks back at schoolyard bullying with a dark nostalgia, recalling when torment was simply treated as a learning experience. Another highlight is his breakdown of terrible, low-budget horror films, where he mocks the absurd decisions made by characters in cheap slashers.
