Lew Schneider paces the stage like an anxious everyman trying to logic his way through social etiquette and personal embarrassments. His delivery is conversational and brisk, built on tightly wound setups where ordinary frustration gets pulled apart line by line without ever turning cynical.
Broadcast on HBO in August 1992 as part of the fourth season of One Night Stand, the set caught Schneider in the middle of an on-camera sprint. He had recently hosted the Nickelodeon game show Make the Grade, spent a summer filming on location in Europe for the CBS series Wish You Were Here, and joined the ensemble of the Fox sitcom Down the Shore.
Shortly after this taping, he shifted his career permanently behind the camera, eventually winning two Emmys as a writer and producer on Everybody Loves Raymond.
