Adam Bloom works fast. He brings a mischievous, slightly frantic energy to the stage, delivering jokes that are engineered down to the syllable. He tries hard to convince the room he is the sharpest mind in the building, leaning forward and stacking punchlines so tightly that the crowd barely has room to catch up. There is a specific intensity to his delivery, driven by a self-described hypomanic hum, making his sets feel rigidly structured yet completely live.

He occupies a unique position as a mechanic for the British circuit. After three decades performing, he published Finding Your Comic Genius in 2023, a highly technical manual that working comics actually read. Today, much of his time is spent running masterclasses where he diagnoses other comedians’ material, pointing out misplaced words and structural flaws. As a prolific ghostwriter, he serves as the person other standups call when they need to fix a broken bit.
Bloom’s own standup is a live demonstration of the theories he teaches. He relies heavily on misdirection, hiding the turn of a joke inside an ordinary conversational phrase. He has zero patience for wasted words. He skips atmospheric storytelling entirely, opting instead for a tight, rapid delivery. The risk of this obsession with form is that the mechanics can occasionally draw attention away from the premise itself. But when the balance holds, he creates a rhythm where the crowd is still laughing at a callback while he is already three beats into the next joke.
