Turns the clean church circuit into an awkward, bug-eyed obstacle course.

He steps up to the microphone looking like an anxious high school teacher, pulls his shoulders in tight, and lets out a booming, baritone radio voice that makes no sense coming out of his frame. The contrast does most of the heavy lifting. He sets up an ordinary situation, like being trapped in small talk at a party or stepping into a crowded public hot tub, and starts dissecting the horror of it. His eyes go wide, his face twists into a cartoonish grimace, and he freezes mid-sentence, waiting for the room to realize just how strange normal social habits really are.

He belongs squarely to the clean comedy circuit, filling auditoriums at churches, corporate gigs, and family-friendly showcases. That world is full of folksy storytellers and cheerily wholesome marriage humor, which makes his brand of jittery, bug-eyed panic feel refreshingly odd by comparison.

His sets rely on vocal gymnastics and elastic physical takes. He can stretch a routine about orthodontic rubber bands or the physics of water slides across five minutes by pivoting between an authoritative news anchor tone and a high-pitched, desperate squeak. The risk of the style is lightness; when a bit lacks teeth, it drifts into corny dad territory. But it lands when he treats minor social dread like an actual trap he cannot escape.

A childhood in northern Minnesota and an early job in Duluth radio gave him the voice, but he learned how to handle a room by making five-hour round trips to open mics at Acme Comedy Company.
