Low-key, deadpan frustration from a comic who refuses to raise his voice.

Forrest Shaw speaks with the dry, unhurried patience of a man who just witnessed someone make a terrible choice and feels obligated to explain the math. He stays still at the microphone, planting his feet and laying out an absurd premise in plain daylight. A typical bit follows a grievance down to the penny, whether he is cataloging the eight hundred dollars he spent at the vet for a cat that thanked him by ruining a shirt, or questioning why organic food costs more when nobody sprayed anything on it. If a crowd groans or misses a beat, he does not beg. He just repeats the premise slightly slower, letting the quiet hang until the audience catches up.

He belongs to that class of veteran club headliners whom other road comics show up to watch. Between theater tours opening for Jim Jefferies and headlining middle-market comedy clubs, he has spent years building a reputation on efficiency and tight premises rather than chasing online novelty.

His material is at its sharpest when dissecting Florida oddities and personal self-destruction. In Poor Decisions, which he filmed in Miami while a hurricane blew outside the venue, he dismantled local folklore without resorting to easy cartoon caricatures. The weaker stretches happen when he drifts toward well-worn club territory like airline travel or gym culture, where his dry tone has to carry more weight than the premise deserves.

The cynicism makes sense once you know he spent ten years as a marine biologist before doing comedy full-time. On stage he treats human stupidity less like a scandal and more like a predictable animal behavior he is tired of documenting.
