Francisco Ramos
Stand-up specials
He sells bilingual culture shock through pure, exhausting physical commitment.
On stage, Francisco Ramos lets his face and shoulders do half the work before a punchline lands. He leans forward with wide-eyed, springy energy, taking a basic annoyance like ordering coffee or arguing with his wife and blowing it up into a frantic one-man scene. When a bit hinges on cultural contrast, he acts out both sides in real time, shifting his posture instantly from an unbothered Latin relative to a confused American standing in line at a bank.
He has built a steady road schedule by working comfortably across two languages. Venues frequently book him for separate English and Spanish headlining sets across the same weekend run, drawing distinct crowds that get the exact same level of sweat.
His strongest material draws from the stubborn bluntness of Latin households, especially stories about his mother refusing to sugarcoat bad news. He struggles more when he wanders into generic observations about texting etiquette or gym culture, where the premises sound like standard club fare. Yet he refuses to let a lukewarm setup hang in the air, immediately throwing his body into an exaggerated act-out or dropping his voice an octave to shake the room back awake.
Born in Caracas and raised in Maryland from the age of twelve, he builds his point of view on that seam between two worlds. He remains the baffled outsider in both.
