James Adomian & Anthony Atamanuik
Stand-up specials
A fake presidential debate built on deep mimicry and mutual sabotage.
Two lecterns, bad suits, and an immediate descent into mutual hostility. Adomian hunches over his microphone, jabbing a crooked finger and screeching about the top tenth of one percent until his voice shreds. Beside him, Atamanuik looms, squinting through heavy bronzer, sniffling, and letting sentences wander into petty grudges or strange pop culture tangents. When one takes the floor, the other does not wait for a cue. He mutters under his breath or interrupts to hijack the premise. The cadence is never setup and punch; it is the friction of two performers testing who will break first.
Most campaign satire aims for polite claps and tidy punchlines. This duo ran in the opposite direction, treating the debate stage like an unruly basement club even while touring mid-size theaters. It became an underground touchstone for comedy fans who found mainstream television sketches toothless.
Their live special, Trump vs. Bernie: Live from Brooklyn, holds up because neither comic settles for easy caricatures. Adomian captures Sanders through frantic, hoarse policy rants, while Atamanuik plays Trump as an idling engine of vanity. The routine can meander when a tangent stretches too thin, but it recovers the moment they lock eyes and force each other to defend an absurdity.
Both spent years in the Upright Citizens Brigade scene, and that shared improv background dictates everything they do together. They are not doing party impressions. They are running full-contact character comedy in bad wigs.
