Proves you do not need misery to write twenty jokes a minute.

He walks up to the microphone smiling like he just won a raffle, bouncing lightly on the balls of his feet. The voice is eager, pitched slightly high, and moves fast. Where other comics spend their opening minute mocking the front row, he offers unprovoked reassurance. He will start a story about talking dirty in bed, catch himself sounding crude, and immediately detour into praise for someone’s posture. When an audience hesitates, he does not scold them. He chuckles quietly into the mic, speaks a little faster, and stacks three quick tags until the room catches up.

He fills an unusual lane between indie club rooms and public radio panel shows. Other comics respect him as someone who can find four punchlines for an idea before most writers finish the setup. He has never chased arena swagger, and he refuses to fake a cynical edge to sound serious.

His best material turns small domestic embarrassments into stories that barely pause for breath, usually revolving around his utter uselessness in a confrontation. The only real limitation is that his instinct for decency can occasionally round off the edges of an idea that might hit harder if left ugly. Still, the jokes arrive so quickly that the sweetness never has time to drag.

Before writing for Last Week Tonight and Desus & Mero, he spent years teaching preschool in Massachusetts. That classroom patience never washed off. On stage, it leaves him sounding like an uncommonly funny adult who genuinely believes everyone in the room deserves a gold star.
