On stage, Hensley avoids formal joke setups and slow builds. She talks fast, paces the boards, and relies on sheer physical commitment to sell the private embarrassments of everyday life. When a bit turns to ill-fitting swimwear or shapewear, she does not just describe the squeeze. She twists behind the microphone stand, hiking up imaginary fabric and pulling an agonized grimace to show where the seams bite. Most of her standup happens alongside Jen Smedley in their two-mic live sets, where Hensley operates as the rowdier, twitchier engine of the conversation, pitching lines over her shoulder like someone gossiping over drinks on a back patio.

She completely bypasses the traditional comedy club circuit. Instead, she packs out downtown theaters on massive tours, playing to packed rooms of women who treat the night like an authorized prison break. The mainstream comedy industry often ignores this territory as internet novelty, but Hensley draws theater crowds that club headliners spend years trying to build.

The material works best when it leans into the visceral mess: toddler disasters, bad bedroom timing after laundry day, and the slow rebellion of aging joints. It drags only when it settles for the easy shorthand of cocktail-mom tropes that feel broad under bright stage lights.

Before filling historic theaters, Hensley studied theater in Nebraska and spent years working through the Los Angeles improv community and commercial circuit. That background keeps the stage performance nimble. When a riff stalls, she never scrambles for a punchline; she just exaggerates her posture, drops her voice an octave, and lets the awkwardness do the heavy lifting.
