On stage
She is a veteran of the road. For years, she has been the trusted opening act for massive tours, warming up crowds for Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker, and Katt Williams. You do not survive in those slots without an act that can instantly control thousands of people. Comarcho has a loud, grounded presence. She takes over the room because she simply refuses to ask for permission to speak.
Her material lives in the friction between men and women. She mocks the idea of a dating shortage by advising women to pick a broke guy off the street and treat him like a fixer-upper house. She has long routines about the absurdities of male enhancement pills and the limits of expensive lingerie. She does not do whimsy. If a joke requires her to sound vulnerable, she avoids it entirely. She wants to be right, not delicate.
Before she stepped onto a stage on a dare, she served in the Army and assembled parts at a California aircraft plant. That pragmatic streak never really left her voice.
