Steve Lemme & Kevin Heffernan
Stand-up specials
A two-man standup set run entirely on mutual irritation and beer.
They share a stage with two microphones and open beers. One steps up to tell an embarrassing story, and the other hangs back near the stool just long enough to jump in with an insult. It is standup run on the rules of an old friendship: constant interruption, zero deference, and an immediate urge to deflate whatever ego the other guy brought into the spotlight. When Heffernan starts bellowing through a punchline, Lemme waits with a dry smirk, ready to correct a detail or point out how heavily his partner is sweating under the lights.
Their rooms draw heavily from audiences who wore out DVD copies of Super Troopers and Beerfest. They tour comedy clubs and theater circuits for crowds that want the unvarnished stories behind those cult comedies. They make no effort to chase industry prestige or high-concept experimentation; they operate entirely on goodwill from fans who grew up with them.
The material stays firmly in the dirt. It is full of bodily mishaps, drinking games, aging hangovers, and petty grievances from movie sets. The set drags when the bits lean too hard on easy gross-out shocks or coast on familiar movie references. It works when the bickering feels unscripted, turning the performance into an affectionate public hazing.
The partnership traces back to their sketch comedy days in the Broken Lizard troupe and carried straight into television projects like Tacoma FD. On stage, stripped of film crews and second takes, they are simply two buddies daring each other to look ridiculous.
