Baby Steps In A Yellow Tuxedo

Al Jackson works the crowd with the measured calm of someone who spent years managing classrooms of seventh-graders and knows nobody in the room poses a genuine threat. His pacing is unhurried, using deadpan authority to contrast the mortifications of teaching middle school sex education against the cheap indignities of budget air travel.

Released by Comedy Dynamics in 2015 and directed by John Asher, the hour arrived while Jackson was balancing road work with early television gigs on Legit and the BBC series Officially Amazing.

The material stays grounded in lived experience and casual observation. Jackson runs through the sensory overwhelm of visiting a legal dispensary for the first time, catalogs the distinct archetypes white men get to occupy throughout their lives, and details an uncomfortable roadside meal at a Cracker Barrel.
