Nick Di Paolo isn’t trying to project his voice to the back of a grand theater. He brings his caustic club act exactly where it belongs: under the low ceiling of a tight, dimly lit room. Di Paolo zeros in on cynical material that thrives on immediate audience tension. He builds jokes around roadside memorials, suicide, and the mechanics of asshole bleaching, operating in a confrontational register that demands the claustrophobia of a traditional club.

Filmed at the Acme Comedy Club in Minneapolis and self-released in early 2015, Another Senseless Killing captures a New York Cellar staple in his preferred environment. At a time when many of his peers were expanding into larger venues, the former Tough Crowd regular intentionally scaled down to preserve his combative pacing. The set leans heavily into dark, abrasive premises involving the evolution of pornography, subway masturbators, and class pessimism.
