Not Gonna Stop

Arnez J

YouTube · 2025 · 68 min

High-energy physical comedy from a veteran of the club circuit.

Arnez J commands the stage with the kind of full-body athleticism that few modern stand-ups can match. The centerpiece of the hour is a prolonged, physical breakdown of driving while exhausted — a sequence where he physically fights an imaginary steering wheel, mimicking the slow drift across lanes and the frantic, wide-eyed jerk back to safety. It is a choreographed routine that relies entirely on facial contortions and precise kinetic timing, reminding audiences why his physical style has kept him in demand on the touring circuit. The April 2025 release marked his first taped special in over twelve years, following 2013’s “Racially Motivated”. Rather than partnering with a major streaming platform, he self-financed the project and released it independently on YouTube through 800 Pound Gorilla Media. Directed and executive produced by his manager, Joe Eshenbaugh, the hour also features standout bits about his disbelief at his own potential survival in historical slavery, his awkward wardrobe choices as an aging “fashionisto”, and the absurdities of domestic life. The independent gamble paid off quickly, racking up over one million views in its first ten days on the platform.

The set list

4 bits
  1. How slaves would behave at auction

Contrasting dumb slaves who tried to look strong and healthy to get bought with how he would deliberately act useless and frail to avoid being purchased.

  2. Calling 911 with proper pronunciation versus ratchet dispatchers

Arguing standard 911 operators sound boring and envisioning a neighborhood dispatcher asking questions and sending the 'amber lamp.'

  3. Black athletes versus white athletes handling injuries

Observing that white athletes play through broken ribs while Black athletes will sit out an entire month if they hear a pop.

  4. Raising daughters versus raising sons

Explaining that daughters take care of aging parents and do the paperwork at nursing homes, whereas sons rush to drop parents off to catch a football game.
