Matt Koff is convinced there is a deep, unspoken bias against men who own cats. As a divorced, middle-aged writer for The Daily Show, he is already fighting an uphill battle against his own creeping self-consciousness, but his status as a cat dad really pushes him over the edge. It is this exact strain of dry, low-key neurosis that drives his second hour of stand-up.
Filmed at the Comedy Cellar’s Village Underground in New York City, Cat Man arrived on Veeps in March 2026 before hitting YouTube two months later. Director David Paul Meyer and art director Becca Gialanella (both colleagues of Koff’s from The Daily Show) transformed the subterranean club into a warm, 1970s-style lounge. Because Koff spends his day job writing jokes about presidents, he treats this hour as a total vacation from political commentary.
Instead, he jokes about his personal life, detailing a vet who brutally body-shames his pet, his own weird penis, and the lingering awkwardness of an old SNL audition. He also brings out a brief guest appearance from Jon Stewart.
