The Middle Ages

Chris Hardwick

Gorilla Comedy+ · 2026

Chris Hardwick confronts middle age, toddler parenting, and a pill organizer.

Most comics who hit fifty run through the same routine about stiff joints and doctor visits, but Chris Hardwick approaches bodily decline with nervous, high-speed dread. He treats Gen Z not with cultural contempt, but with open jealousy, writing them off as “time millionaires” who have endless decades to waste while his own battery drains.

Filmed at Zanies in Nashville, the hour marks Hardwick’s first recorded special in ten years. A three-year pause following the birth of his daughter gave him time to learn the piano, which he parks on stage to intersperse stories of toddler exhaustion with short tunes about obsolete media and household pets.

He spends the remainder of the set contrasting his docile Disneyland bachelor party with his wife Lydia Hearst hunting wild boars, before building a domestic pharmacy errand into an elaborate fantasy role-playing quest.
