Britain’s self-appointed bluest comic exports his aggressively coarse act to audiences in Australia and Asia. Roy Chubby Brown isn’t subtly building to a thesis here. He kicks off the performance by being physically “born” on stage, emerging through the curtains via a giant pair of female legs. From there, it is a relentless barrage of working-class swearing, sex jokes, and unabashed vulgarity designed to overwhelm the senses.
Filmed in 1998 across venues in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Hong Kong, the release blends his theater act with travelogue footage of Brown interacting with locals in the Southern Hemisphere. It marks his second theatrical cinema release, arriving during a period of massive cult popularity for him in the UK.
He leans into his usual targets without hesitation, pointing his material squarely at women, sex, beavers, and helmets. He makes no attempt to temper the act for an international crowd, opting instead to see how many cultural sensitivities he can trample in a single set.
