Chelsea Peretti opens her first half-hour by addressing the problem of her “weird attractiveness level”. She knows the crowd is evaluating her face, so she names the distraction before pivoting into a teardown of modern dating and bedroom dynamics. Peretti approaches romance with the detached superiority of someone studying a strange bug, admitting to a weakness for dumb guys and confessing she has dated three separate white rappers.
Filmed at John Jay College in New York City, this 2011 set captures Peretti just as her television career was gaining momentum. At the time, she was writing for Parks and Recreation and The Sarah Silverman Program, still a couple of years away from her acting role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Her material highlights a disdain for men who refer to women as “screamers” or “wildcats”. She also spends a large portion of the runtime detailing her aversion to talking during sex and her confessed love for mid-coital jokes, culminating in a recording of terrible dirty talk.
