Comedy Now!

Alan Park uses this 1999 broadcast to document his late-nineties club act, earning his first major national exposure in the process. Titled Animal Soup, the hour was filmed for the third season of CTV’s Comedy Now!, a series dedicated to putting Canadian stand-ups on television.

Born in Scarborough, Ontario, Park delivers straightforward observational material years before his long-running stint as a political satirist on Royal Canadian Air Farce. The performance preserves his original voice on stage, capturing a working professional right before he pivoted into the specific character work and government impressions that would occupy his next decade on broadcast TV.
