Tom Segura uses his first hour-long broadcast to establish a slow, deliberate rhythm that makes mild sociopathy sound reasonable. He applies the same calm detachment to the physical toll of his morning bathroom routine as he does to the bizarre logic of witnesses on the true crime show The First 48. When he admits to intentionally disrespecting hotel rooms or testing out multiple bakeries to gauge croissant quality, the humor comes from his deadpan conviction that these are entirely standard behaviors.

Filmed at the Goodale Theater in Minneapolis, the 2014 set served as his introduction to a larger audience after a pair of audio releases. Segura was already gaining traction through the podcast he co-hosted with his wife, Christina Pazsitzky, but this Netflix debut solidified his stage persona as a levelheaded guy with deeply questionable habits. Audiences look back on this set as a period where his focus was on tight joke structure and patient delivery rather than the broader arena spectacles of his later career.
