Aura Farmer

A cynical PowerPoint lecture on the absurdity of young privilege.
Finlay Christie has a lot of advantages, and he is happy to use them for material. His second self-released special is structured as a satirical PowerPoint lecture advising young, wealthy people on how to secure social currency in a world that prioritizes struggle. He points out that since he lacks trauma or neurodivergence, he has to find other ways to look cool. He mocks the absurdity of online culture by framing his own posh, private-school upbringing as an obstacle to be overcome, culminating in a presentation of the cringeworthy grime rap lyrics he wrote as a wealthy teenager in Essex.\n\nFilmed at London’s Top Secret Comedy Club and directed by Bobby Mair, the set is the digital release of Christie’s 2024 Edinburgh Fringe show, I Deserve This. Released on YouTube in August 2025, the special arrived during a career surge for the young comic, following television appearances on Live at the Apollo and Have I Got News For You.\n\nThe writing is tight, relying on a series of slides to mock generational obsessions. Christie’s strongest material turns his complete lack of real-world problems into a joke, like when he explains how listening to a radio report about the cost-of-living crisis hitting the elderly just sounded to him like they were boasting about owning property. He also delivers a Gen Z spin on the classic “Four Yorkshiremen” sketch to mock peers who compete over who has the most traumatic childhood. His polished, slightly aloof stage presence allows him to mock his own background without alienating the audience.
The set list
-
Old people complaining about heating costs sounds like bragging to young people
Compares an elderly caller complaining about heating costs to bragging about fueling a Porsche, pointing out that having a multi-story house alone is a luxury to younger people.
-
Relocating polar bears to old people's cold houses
Observes polar bears swimming instead of drowning, deciding to solve climate distress by moving polar bears into unheated homes of elderly people for warmth and companionship.
-
Mental illness and neurodivergence as social currency
Contrasts older generations listing achievements in social media bios with Gen Z listing disorders for clout, noting his own jealousy that his privilege leaves him without one to brag about.
-
Suspicion of shy people
Questions the automatic assumption that shy people are nice, hypothesizing that someone like Claire could simply be racist and lacking the confidence to say it.
