A premium cable time capsule from the mid-nineties, the premiere episode of Full Frontal Comedy offers a severe tonal whiplash. On one end of the bill is Ray Romano, delivering the exasperated, clean observations about his twin toddlers that were about to make him a household name. On the exact opposite end is Robert Schimmel, operating in his prime as a reliable supplier of absolute filth.

Aired on Showtime in 1995 and hosted by Dom Irrera, the showcase captures Romano just months after his breakout Late Show set and a year before Everybody Loves Raymond hit the air. He is actively road-testing the domestic neuroses that would soon define his career. Schimmel provides the necessary premium-cable edge, leaning into blue material about sex and relationships. The half-hour is rounded out by Steve White, bringing a jolt of volume, and working club comic Scott LaRose.
