HBO Comedy Half-Hour: Jeff Stilson

Jeff Stilson strips his act of physical theatrics, leaning entirely on a subdued, deadpan delivery. He spends his time at the microphone working through tight observational premises about marriage and domestic life. Filmed at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco in May 1996, the half-hour aired on HBO that October. At the time, the Spokane native was an established New York club regular who had recently finished a stint as a staff writer for The Late Show with David Letterman. Following this appearance, Stilson largely shifted his focus behind the camera, going on to produce The Chris Rock Show and MTV’s The Osbournes.
