Sold Out, Suck It
Comedy Central Records · Album · 2015 · 50 min
Twenty minutes of unreleased club material from the Athens taping.
Kyle Kinane spends nine uninterrupted minutes explaining his persistent dread of experiencing a body swap with anyone who possesses an actual skill set. If he suddenly finds himself in the hands of an airline pilot or an orthopedic surgeon mid-operation, everyone in the vicinity is doomed.
The material comes from the cutting-room floor of his 2015 hour recorded at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia. Comedy Central Records issued the twenty-minute audio set as an EP in December 2015, slipping it onto the D-side of the vinyl pressing and uploading it digitally.
Kinane was already serving as the ubiquitous voice of Comedy Central promos while headlining clubs nationwide. The five tracks here capture him unspooling stray anxieties that did not make the television broadcast. He tests out gibberish German alone in his apartment, walks through a spider pantomime, and examines the everyday mechanics of cowardice.
