Working Class Fancy

The breakup material starts at the point of petty logistics: having an ex walk out the door and take every roll of toilet paper with her. Liam McEneaney leans into the indignities of adulthood gone sideways, like eating ice cream off his stomach or arguing that Detroit beats Paris. The delivery is dry and patient, closer to a late-night bar conversation than a polished club audition.

Recorded on January 10, 2016, at The Bell House in Brooklyn and released by Comedy Dynamics, the set captured McEneaney two decades into his stand-up career. Best known as an anchor of the New York alternative scene and the producer of the 2011 concert movie Tell Your Friends!, he spends the hour working through bad dates on OkCupid, crowd chatter, and the strange sadness of Dunkin’ Donuts late at night.
