Kevin Ryan built a massive audience by asking other comedians if they are trash, but his debut half-hour special proves he is happiest turning that interrogation on himself. He plays the role of the chronically suspicious, highly neurotic husband whose self-esteem is low enough that he has managed to evict himself from his own dreams. Much of the set flows from this hyper-defensive posture, particularly a bit about his girlfriend’s naive excursion to take pictures in a public park, which Ryan escalates into a full-blown crisis of jealousy.

Filmed at The Fillmore in his hometown of Philadelphia, the 2024 release came out on YouTube alongside a matching half-hour from his Are You Garbage? co-host, H. Foley. By early 2024, Ryan had transitioned from a grinding club comic into a major podcast personality, and the hometown crowd welcomes him with the noisy familiarity of a neighborhood guy who made good.
