Welcome To My World

Mike Toomey treats the board game Operation not as childhood nostalgia, but as an early lesson in cardiac arrest. He watches himself turn into his father, tracking the slow slide toward muttering at strangers and adopting the exact parental habits he spent his twenties trying to dodge.

Recorded at the Dry Bar Comedy club in Provo, Utah, the 2018 set runs thirty-nine minutes. Toomey was already more than three decades into his stand-up career, performing regularly across the Midwest while working as the resident announcer and on-air personality for Chicago’s WGN Morning News.

The set stays clean, leaning on timing and recognizable midlife friction. He breaks down the perks of being the youngest sibling, questions who actually buys tickets for the Greyhound bus, and catalogs the physical signs that youth is definitively over.
