Mitch All Together

Mitch Hedberg stands on stage with his hair falling into his face, hiding behind tinted sunglasses as he fires off a barrage of surreal, rapid-fire one-liners. Rather than telling stories, he treats stand-up like a series of brief, strange observations, often acting as his own editor by commenting out loud on which jokes worked. The performance is as much about his anxious, rhythmic delivery as it is about his logic.

Recorded in May 2003 at the Acme Comedy Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the show was released that December as his second comedy album. It would be the last release of his career before his death in 2005. At this point, Hedberg was a massive favorite on the club circuit, carrying the momentum of multiple late-night television appearances. The set features some of his most famous material, including his thoughts on why escalators can never truly break, the lack of necessity for donut receipts, and his famous admission about his history of drug use. A live bassist provides occasional punctuation to his thoughts on sesame seeds, three easy payments, and the buoyancy of floating limes.
