Mo Alexander matches a highly logical, scientific perspective with stories of absolute southern chaos. He approaches subjects like racism and political absurdity with the weary skepticism of a comic who has spent nearly three decades on the road, rejecting gentle setups in favor of punchlines that force the crowd to think as much as they cringe.
The performance was recorded in September 2019 at the historic Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee—making Alexander the first comedian to ever record at the famous musical landmark. Released in August 2022 by Stand Up! Records and directed by Ian Rans, the set functions as a homecoming show for the Memphis native, peaking at number one on the iTunes comedy chart.
Alexander, who studied physics before committing to comedy full-time in the nineties, brings an analytical mind to his material. He tracks the logical flaws of racism, details his misadventures graphing calculus, and narrates a bizarre sequence of events that led to him being kicked out of the Holocaust Museum and subsequently accepted by the KKK. The titular thread belongs to a chaotic showdown with a house-invading possum, which he treats with the same forensic skepticism as his jokes about systemic bigotry.
