Ross Bennett leans into the structured worldview of an army veteran and the son of a Marine colonel to look at a chaotic world. On this 2018 comedy album, his perspective highlights the cultural gap between New York City and what he calls “New York Country”. His approach focuses on specific, mundane details, like trying to buy clothes at a thrift store immediately after someone of a similar size passes away, or analyzing the grammatical difference between “hunting” and “huntin’”.

Released by Stand Up! Records, the fifty-one-minute release captures Bennett working through a series of mid-life transitions. Over thirteen tracks, he discusses aging, colonoscopies, and the absurdity of local politics. Tracks like “My Solution to the Mid-East Problem” and “Minnesota Nice” showcase his dry delivery, which favors straightforward joke writing over shock value. The set also includes “The Professional Gospel Wrestling Hour” as a bonus track.
