One Night Stand: Michael Colyar

At the time of this 1991 broadcast, Colyar was fresh off winning the grand prize on Star Search, half of which he donated to local homeless charities. Instead of booking a standard theater for his half-hour, HBO brought their cameras to his home turf at Venice Beach, California.

He had spent the previous nine years performing up to five sets a day on the boardwalk, effectively treating the pavement as his own dedicated venue.
