Jack Whitehall steps onto the stage facing the terrifying prospect of maturity. His partner is pregnant, he has recently acquired an emasculating £6,000 toy poodle, and he is trying to reconcile his “foppish man-child” persona with the realities of impending fatherhood. The best moments of the show happen when Whitehall leans away from his usual polished, theatrical storytelling and lets some genuine panic slip through. He is especially sharp when discussing the indignity of his partner’s dating history: specifically, her past relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio, which has left Whitehall unable to watch The Wolf of Wall Street without feeling inadequate, comforting himself only with the joke that she must have aged out of DiCaprio’s demographic.\n\nFilmed over three nights in July 2023 at London’s O2 Arena, the special catches Whitehall at a clear turning point in his career, shortly before the birth of his daughter in September of that year. Alongside the broad physical set-pieces about safari vacations and CAPTCHA tests, he occasionally lets the armor drop to discuss more personal matters, including his partner’s miscarriage and his deep-seated aversion to therapy. Though the material still heavily favors his signature posh self-deprecation, the hour marks a transition away from the extended adolescence that defined his earlier stand-up.
