Sunday After Six
BET · 2025 · 71 min
A Detroit comic turns Sunday evening dread into domestic comedy.
The title nods to the specific dread of childhood Sundays at six o’clock, when homework remained unfinished and Monday morning hung overhead like an eviction notice. Chris CP Powell approaches adult domestic life with that same lingering tension, building his set around the realization that marriage, fatherhood, and maintaining a household simply replace school night panic with bigger stakes.
Best known for scene-stealing roles on Detroiters and Love Life, along with hosting BET’s revived ComicView, Powell strips away sketch flourishes in favor of loose, rhythmic club comedy. Directed by Tim Reis, the hour leans into Detroit-honed storytelling, running through the realities of raising daughters, unpredictable public encounters, and the fragile illusion of being the man of the house.
