This Just Hit Me

Ryan Hamilton took the worst day of his life and turned it into the anchor of his second Netflix hour. After surviving a collision with a New York City hop-on, hop-off double-decker tourist bus, which left him with ten broken ribs and a collapsed lung, Hamilton spends the bulk of his performance finding the humor in physical trauma. Rather than playing the incident for drama, he focuses on the bizarre social awkwardness of the aftermath, the logistical nightmare of emergency care, and the strange pride of being run over by a vehicle that tourists pay to ride.

Filmed at the Neptune Theater in Seattle and directed by Nate Bargatze, the 2026 release marks Hamilton’s first special since his 2017 breakout. The tone is clean and polite. Outside of the accident, he builds routines around visiting a dispensary with his mother and developing a crush on his anesthesiologist.

The centerpiece story of the tourist bus takes up more than half the 53-minute runtime. While some critics felt the bit ran too long, others appreciated how the escalating absurdity of the details made the joke funnier as it went.
