Henry Rollins hits his fortieth birthday and immediately begins cataloging the physical decay. Standing on stage in a black t-shirt, he operates less like a traditional comedian and more like a drill sergeant delivering a breathless debriefing on the indignities of aging. He sweats through detailed complaints about discovering mystery wrinkles, contrasting his punk roots with the sudden reality of getting older.
Filmed at the London Astoria in May 2001 during a sold-out run, Up for It caught Rollins at the end of a three-month worldwide tour. He was fully entrenched in a multimedia phase at the time, fronting the Rollins Band and hosting Night Visions on Fox. The set reflects that relentless travel schedule. He barks out stories about arguing with the Canadian Border Patrol, surviving Bangkok taxis, and dealing with Ku Klux Klan disruptions, treating global transit less like an adventure and more like an endurance test.
