Rather than adapting to contemporary comedy trends, he leans into the persona of an aging skeptic who is baffled by emotional support animals, gender reveal parties, and children who talk back to their mothers.

The performance was recorded at The Warfield Theatre in San Francisco in December 2019 and debuted on Netflix the following summer, representing the comic’s first original special for the streaming service. Lopez is at his most comfortable when celebrating Chicano culture and discussing immigration, though some of his edgier setups, such as comparing mass shooters to domestic terrorists, often devolve into lengthy tangents about his own childhood.
