The slides do real work. In shows like 2 Cool 4 School, the visual proof grounds the set, giving his reactions something tangible to play against. Without the projector, the material sometimes flattens into standard observational territory about gym memberships and errands. When he stays inside the schoolhouse walls, though, the exasperation feels completely earned.
