Andrew Santino

Comedy Central Records · Album · 2015 · 50 min

Andrew Santino's debut stand-up album recorded live in Denver.

Santino operates on high-strung skepticism. When he hears birds chirping outside a window, he hears desperate animals shouting for casual sex rather than the beauty of nature. That quick jump from minor annoyance into vocal hostility carries the set. Recorded at Comedy Works in Denver, the 2015 audio release arrived on Comedy Central Records alongside a companion television half-hour. At the time, he was coming off the canceled ABC sitcom Mixology and waiting on the pilot for Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here. Working in a tight basement club rather than a television studio, he digs into how his pale complexion earned him the nickname Cheeto Santino during a pickup basketball game, the tactical hazards of sleeping naked during a break-in, and why padded playgrounds make modern children soft. He also spends time marveling at the absurd physical presence of Dwayne Johnson compared to his own fragile frame.
