Before he moved to Hollywood to create television shows like Leverage and Jackie Chan Adventures, John Rogers was a McGill theoretical physics student who stuck around Canada to work the comedy club circuit. He spent the late eighties and early nineties touring the country. Sense & Nonsensibility captures his stage act right at the pivot point of his career, showcasing the perspective that would eventually lead him to scriptwriting.
The half-hour set aired during the inaugural season of the Canadian stand-up showcase Comedy Now! in 1997. While the specific premises haven’t been widely archived online, the performance was well-received by the television academy, earning Rogers a Gemini Award nomination for Best Performance in a Comedy Program.
