Kathleen McGee was never one to dance around a subject. On her 2019 debut album, Deliciously Vulgar, she delivers a direct, explicit, and cheerful set about sex, dating, and bad decisions. Rather than playing the part of a hardened shock comic, McGee presents her bedroom misadventures and club excursions with a friendly, conversational ease, making topics like face-sitting waivers and swingers’ clubs feel as casual as a chat over coffee. Released by Stand Up! Records and produced by Dan Schlissel, the 44-minute album captures the Edmonton-born comedian at a high point in her career. Around the time of its release, McGee was a fixture on CBC’s The Debaters and was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for her live festival work. The tracks here cover everything from family interventions and bad dates to Tinder etiquette and the mechanical realities of modern vibrators.
