Clean observational stand-up recorded for Dry Bar Comedy in Utah.
Dennis Regan opens with an account of getting held back in kindergarten, presenting childhood failure as an early sign that he was poorly equipped for structured life. He recalls struggling with the alphabet song, asking questions so baffling his teachers had to halt the lesson, and accepting his place outside the academic elite before he had even learned to tie his shoes.
Filmed at the Dry Bar Comedy club in Provo, Utah, and released in 2018, the set fits the venue’s profanity-free format. Regan had spent decades headlining clubs, making late-night appearances for David Letterman and Jay Leno, and writing on CBS’s The King of Queens. While he works similar clean territory to his brother Brian, Dennis opts for a slower, deadpan rhythm rather than frantic physical acts.
The rest of the set stays firmly in the pocket of everyday frustration. He picks apart salesman guilt tactics, grocery store trips, and the suspicious optimism of elastic waistbands.
