Fart Safari 2: Fart Harder

Despite the title, there is surprisingly little toilet humor in Doug Mellard’s second comedy special. Instead, the Austin-born comic channels his fast-paced energy into a barrage of hypothetical situations, weirdly specific grievances, and rapid-fire observational riffs. Mellard plays the part of a manic, overthinking bystander, converting everyday anxieties like awkward weddings and funerals into frantic, funny what-if scenarios.

Released in 2018 by Stand Up! Records, the special captures Mellard at a career milestone, having recently married and established himself as a prominent national touring act after years of building his reputation in the Texas comedy scene. The set features a blend of dark observations and dumb confessions, including a bit about boarding a flight and immediately realizing you are the person everyone else dreads sitting next to on the plane. Other standout segments focus on his poorly thought-out, misspelled tattoos, a deep dive into the action film Con Air, and a vivid, deeply uncomfortable story about hearing his parents have sex.
