Deadpan observations on bike locks and grocery cart ethics.
Nothing stops a person from buying a twelve-dollar U-lock, snapping it onto a stranger’s bicycle, and walking away. It is not theft, but it grants anyone with pocket money the power to shut down someone else’s commute or padlock the front door of an ice cream shop and decide the store is closed for the day. Erskine delivers the thought without smiling, standing motionless behind the microphone and treating petty civil disruption like a municipal policy dispute.
Filmed at the Dry Bar Comedy club in Provo, Utah, the 40-minute set arrived as Erskine began gaining broader industry traction. TBS selected him as one of their top ten comics to watch that same year, while clips pulled from the performance circulated heavily online and logged tens of millions of views.
The material adheres to the venue’s strictly clean policy, though it skips the folksy warmth typical of family-friendly showcases. Instead, he treats Costco cart return etiquette as a serious moral test, then questions why driver’s license renewal forms ask for an extra two dollars toward organ donation awareness, likening the request to a friend asking to have your car and then demanding pocket change.
