Charles Fleischer approaches stand-up like a rogue mathematician who wandered away from his chalkboard. Fresh off his mainstream success voicing the title character in the hit film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Fleischer used his 1990 HBO One Night Stand television spot to pitch his eccentric comedic theories to a premium cable audience.
He avoids standard setups entirely. Instead, Fleischer dives into strange mathematical concepts, detailing what he calls “Moleeds,” a wholly invented numerical system that he explains with such fervent conviction that the crowd has to guess if he is joking. Bouncing between erratic physical movements, sudden vocal shifts, and bizarre intellectual tangents, he keeps the room completely off balance. For viewers who only knew him as a cartoon bunny, his oddball live act is a sharp left turn.
